VSO – Campaign synopsis
VSO is a charity that sends people overseas to help out in various ways in the developing world. From teaching English Brazil to building schools Uganda. We were asked to come up with a campaign to get people along to their exhibition in Islington. So, with a variety of ambient and outdoor executions in local areas, we came up with the following work. The idea was to show the adverts ‘going wrong’ because the usual professionals had all gone overseas to volunteer. From bad street performers to ‘ugly’ leafleteers replacing the bronzed Aussie army who usually distributes leaflets. The campaign tripled their sign-ups, prompting them to run out of application forms. We even had people collecting and swapping the various pieces of media. All for under 40k.
Christmas card – ice sculpture
A box is delivered with the words ‘Keep refrigerated’ on the lid. When you take off the lid to the water stained box, there’s a tag inside reading ‘behold. this intricate hand crafted ice sculpture of the angel Gabriel at prayer’. This piece prompted several phone calls from troubled secretaries asking for another.
